Special Education Teacher
Klamath Falls City School District is seeking an elementary special education teacher. This position supports students in grades K-5 who are not successful in a typical classroom due to social, emotional or behavioral regulation. This position may support multiple elementary schools based on individual student and distict-wide need. The primary purpose of the position is to cultivate and promote a safe, learning-centered environments by encouraging positive student behaviors, managing student behavior, fostering a culture of high expectations, and building positive partnerships with school teams and families. This position will work closely with IEP teams to develop and implement individual plans and provide individual and/or group interventions with the overarching goal to meet the goals established for students through the IEP process. This position reports directly to the building principal and Director of Special Services.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide classroom behavior support at the designated location and time for the position.
- Participate in, coordinate, and conduct activities that contribute to the effective operation of the special education programs within the school.
- Refer students and families to appropriate related service providers and/or community agencies.
- Develop Individual Edcuation Plans (IEP) for students.
- Collect data and report progress on the students IEP goals and objectives.
- Assist in developing, modeling, and implementing interventions from behavior plans.
- Intervene in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students for the purpose of assisting students in modifying such behavior and developing successful interpersonal skills.
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, the ability to handle emotionally charged situations, and a basic understanding of educational curriculum and instructional methods.
EXPERIENCE:
- Training (or willingness to be trained) to be a member of the district crisis prevention team.
- Experince in completing basic Functional Behavior Assessments.
- Ability to develop, implement, and train staff on implementation of behavior support plans.
- Experience in teaching students with behavioral/emotional needs required.
- Knowledge and experience with alternative learning methods including identifying approprite modifications and accommodations.
- Special education licensure required.
LICENSURE:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Must obtain Oregon Licensure through TSPC with an endorsement in Special Education.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
- 2024-2025 Schedule - $49,638.36 - $92,138.12, DOE
