Staffed by a comprehensive team of over 50 health professionals and over 100 support personnel, KHP is the second-largest healthcare provider in the Klamath Basin.
 
KHP is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered dental care to our community. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chief Dental Officer to lead our dental team and ensure excellence in all aspects of dental patient care services.
 
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Dental Officer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of dental patient care services at KHP. This includes monitoring clinical performance to ensure compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements in partnership with the Quality Assurance Committee. As a key member of the Leadership Team, the Chief Dental Officer will develop and review clinical protocols, ensure compliance measures, plan provider workflows, and assist with provider scheduling. This role also involves mentoring and training staff providers, offering guidance on best practices, and troubleshooting dental services and operational issues according to KHP policy and FQHC standards.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Clinical Leadership:
  • Oversee the delivery of primary and preventive oral healthcare services.
  • Provide direct patient care, including preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to clinic protocols for documentation.
 
Administrative Duties:
  • Develop and update clinical policies and procedures.
  • Monitor clinical performance to ensure compliance with regulatory and licensing agencies.
  • Coordinate clinical Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities and clinical measures.
  • Prepare and present monthly reports to the Board of Directors.
 
Mentorship and Training:
  • Serve as a coach, mentor, and trainer to staff providers.
  • Provide guidance on best practices and resolve medical service and operational issues.
  • Oversee the clinical supervision and evaluation of new providers, locum tenens, and healthcare professionals in training.
 
Quality Improvement:
  • Review incident reports and implement corrective actions.
  • Actively participate in regular management meetings, representing providers and other Clinical Services staff.
 
Operational Excellence:
  • Oversee the Dental Department, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and financial planning discussions.
  • Act as a liaison between providers, the clinic, and the broader healthcare community.
 

Leadership and Interaction:

As a leader in this organization, all interactions with patients, providers, co-workers, and supervisors must be friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional. This behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork consistent with KHP’s standards and guidelines.

 

Qualifications:
  • Licensed Dentist with a proven track record in dental leadership.
  • Strong clinical and administrative skills.
  • Experience in developing and implementing clinical protocols and quality improvement measures.
  • Ability to mentor and train providers.
  • Commitment to improving the health status of the community.
 

Physical Demands and Accommodations:

 

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with occasional extended hours and Saturdays.
  • Regularly required to walk, talk, bend, lift, carry, write, and hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
