Summary:  Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries. Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.  

 

  • Schedule patient appointments according to physician’s scheduling protocols and insurance guidelines.
  • Check in patients verify and update all demographic and insurance information and collection of co-payments resulting in proper cash reconciliation.
  • Process and manage patient referrals.
  • Maintain appointment computer scheduling in accordance with office scheduling policies.
  • Contacting / interacting with appropriate facilities, such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities, etc. in regards to patient care.
  • Perform administrative support as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by managers and leads.

  • Safety and Security – Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.                     

 

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Candidate must pass Urine Analysis and criminal background check.

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or GED and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Medical Terminology and/or medical insurance background

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to patients, physicians, manager of department, etc.

 

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

 

Computer Skills: 

Knowledge of modern office equipment, systems and procedures, including computer skills and type efficiently; an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software; Order processing systems; Knowledge of medical software is a plus.

No certifications needed

 

 

Work Environment:

This is a fast paced environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is working in a typical office environment.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
