About us
Klamath Soil & Water Conservation District is a small Special District (an autonomous, local government entity created for a special purpose, similar in structure to a fire department) in Klamath Falls, OR. We are collaborative, professional, and address challenging environmental/agricultural issues. Our goal is to successfully secure and deploy state and federal grant and/or cooperative agreement funding for the purpose of simultaneously improving the environment, local agricultural operations and/or fire safety within the boundaries of Klamath County. We are not affiliated with the county in any way, we have simply adopted the boundaries of the county as our area of operations.

We are looking for a driven, skilled and organized individual to lead our District team which currently consists of an admin assistant, a project manager, and a project management intern. The successful candidate will be meticulous when writing grant applications, reports, and plans as well as ensuring the overall success of the District. He or she will also be proactive in attaining goals, identifying opportunities and working with stakeholders to ensure that our vision is being met. A skillful District Manager will have the vision, competency and work ethic to help guide the process in a positive direction.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED and 3-4 years of experience in natural resource or agricultural related employment with an emphasis on planning and/or operations management, OR a Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in natural resources, natural resource management, agricultural sciences, soils, water quality or related disciplines.
- Experience in irrigated agriculture, GIS mapping systems, a working knowledge of interdisciplinary approaches to soil and water conservation problems, and experience applying for external funding is desired. Knowledge of the Klamath Reclamation Project and surrounding irrigation districts is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Collaboratively identify the best solutions for environmental issues that involve competing interests and create long-term plans to address them.
- Analyze geographical territory and make decisions about where to focus resources to address environmental and agricultural concerns.
- Build relationships with environmental and agricultural communities within the bounds of Klamath County.
- Respond to stakeholder concerns.
- Guide and assist staff members in their daily activities.
- Monitor and communicate District performance to the board.

Pay: $62,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
