Description
Klein & Hoffman is seeking a talented and hardworking Architectural Engineering Associate. This position will be responsible for providing services in the following areas: building diagnostics and rehabilitation on building facades, curtain wall systems, roofs, plazas, waterproofing and windows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Experience and knowledge in evaluation of complicated building façade and enclosure systems
- Manage communication with Clients and Contractors
- Develop proposals for professional services based on Client requests and necessary scope of services
- Conduct on-site investigations to document existing conditions and determine cause(s) of problems in existing building enclosures
- Perform field testing utilizing a variety of testing equipment and instrumentation
- Researches and identifies technical and code related issues
- Organizes field data to facilitate analysis and problem solving
- Prepare reports inclusive of repair recommendations and cost estimates
- Prepares construction documents including drawings and technical specification
- Reviews contractor submittals on time
- Perform construction related field visits to designate work and observe repairs in progress
- Prepares site visit reports and develops responses to requests for information
- Participates in professional organizations and networking events
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or Engineering
- Licensed Architect or Professional Engineer
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Understanding of architectural, structural, and basic mechanical and electrical system design documents
- Ability to provide clear and wellwritten reports to clients (building owners, architects, engineers) regarding project specific system performance and energy evaluations
- Knowledge of building codes, design guidelines, and industry standards
- Involvement in building enclosure and building sciences professional organizations
- Ability to perform inspections of buildings and other structures, both visually and with instruments
- Able to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle
- Able to safely use and/or work on scaffolding equipment
- Able to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 30 lbs
