We are looking for a dedicated Maintenance Service Technician to join our team and help us keep our operations running smoothly. The Maintenance Service Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring that all equipment and facilities are in optimal condition. San Mateo/Santa Clara County.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role.
- Some knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable truck for transportation and hauling equipment.
- Must be able to speak English and Spanish.
- Must be able to lift 65-100 pounds.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or training is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:
- Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other critical systems.
- Perform corrective maintenance to quickly address and resolve malfunctions.
Diagnose and Repair:
- Identify, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues.
- Utilize specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to ensure repairs are effective and timely.
Routine Facility Inspections:
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and common areas to identify potential issues and ensure optimal functioning.
- Identify wear-and-tear or safety hazards to prevent costly repairs and minimize downtime.
Maintenance Requests & Emergencies:
- Respond promptly to work orders and maintenance requests from tenants or property managers.
- Handle emergency repairs such as power outages, leaks, and heating/cooling failures efficiently.
- Be available for after-hours or on-call services as required.
Accurate Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts replaced.
- Log service reports and monitor equipment history to support data-driven maintenance strategies.
- Use maintenance management software (if applicable) to track work orders, tasks, and performance metrics.
Equipment Installation & Upgrades:
- Assist with the installation and setup of new systems, appliances, or equipment, including HVAC units, lighting, and electrical panels.
- Coordinate with external contractors for large-scale installations or upgrades as needed.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor and manage inventory levels for tools, parts, and supplies to prevent downtime due to shortages.
- Coordinate with vendors for ordering supplies and ensure timely delivery for ongoing projects.
Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Work closely with property managers, maintenance staff, and external vendors to streamline operations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians as needed.
- Collaborate with other technicians across multiple properties to improve maintenance procedures.
Travel & Time Management:
- Efficiently manage time and travel between Burlingame, Redwood City, Palo Alto, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and other assigned locations to meet daily maintenance goals.
- Ensure reliable vehicle maintenance for frequent travel between job sites.
- Maintain flexibility with travel schedules to accommodate urgent repairs or service calls across different locations.
Customer Service:
- Interact professionally with tenants, property managers, and team members to address concerns and provide maintenance updates.
- Ensure a positive tenant experience by providing clear communication regarding maintenance timelines and status updates.
Compensation:
- $27.00 - $35.00/hour depending on experience.
