About Us & Position Overview:
Kleinpeter Farms Dairy is a family-owned business for over 100 years. We service our customers with fresh milk along with other dairy products. We strive to provide the best sales/service to all customers in a professional manner. Our drivers manage sales transactions, truck inventory, and proper temperature for storing product.
Our transport drivers safely make deliveries in an 18-wheel tractor-trailer to remote company depots, load raw milk into a tanker to deliver to the dairy, and perform other pick-ups and deliveries as necessitated by company demand
Job Requirements:
- Must have a valid Class A license (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement
- Must have an acceptable driving record
- High School Diploma or equivalent desired
- Ability to accurately record data
- Ability to regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds independently
- Work safely in the Louisiana weather
- Be able to effectively work in a team environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays
- Maintain constant mental focus and constantly be aware of surroundings
- Must be able to pass all medical exams and drug and background checks (including criminal)
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate trucks within the law and with a safety-conscious mind
- Learn and operate the assigned route safely
- Maintain the proper temperature (under 37 degrees Fahrenheit) for finished product at all times
- Maintain clean and neat appearance of the truck and trailer/tanker
- Pick up and return all empty crates from remote locations to plant facility on a daily basis
- Collect and verify the temperature (under 45 degrees Fahrenheit) of milk samples from producers
- Monitor truck maintenance daily and report any unsafe conditions to Supervisor and Safety Manager
- Report any vehicle accidents and/or personal injuries to Supervisor and Safety Manager immediately
- Adhere to pre- and post-inspections per DOT regulations
- Complete all paperwork correctly and in a timely manner
- Relieve other Transport Drivers if absent from work
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area
- Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and quality problems and safety incidents and accidents from occurring
