Job Description: Agriculture Maintenance Technician

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Agriculture Maintenance Technician to join our team. The technician will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, and electrical components to ensure the smooth operation of agricultural operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical background, be detail-oriented, and demonstrate a commitment to safety and high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspection & Diagnosis:

    • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment for malfunctions.

    • Listen for unusual sounds and discuss machine operation with operators to diagnose problems.

    • Work collaboratively with maintenance workers to determine root causes of issues and repair machinery as needed.

  • Repair & Maintenance:

    • Dismantle defective machines and install new or repaired parts to restore machinery to full working condition.

    • Clean, lubricate, and maintain critical machine components including shafts, bearings, gears, and electrical apparatus.

    • Install and repair electrical components such as transformers, wiring, and electrical parts of equipment.

    • Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, replacing or repairing gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and other components.

  • Fabrication & Structural Repair:

    • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts as needed.

    • Fabricate and repair wooden structures within the facility.

    • Assist with maintaining and repairing the physical structure of the establishment.

  • Seasonal Support & General Maintenance:

    • Support other departments by filling seasonal roles such as dumping grain, cleaning grain bins, and filling anhydrous tanks.

    • Perform routine maintenance tasks around the facility, ensuring everything is functioning smoothly and safely.

  • Safety & Housekeeping:

    • Consistently follow safety guidelines and protocols established by the company.

    • Maintain good housekeeping practices to ensure clean and organized work areas.

    • Attend all safety training and ensure that work areas meet safety standards.

  • Customer & Business Support:

    • Promote the business with existing and potential customers, contributing to the growth and reputation of the company.

  • Other Duties:

    • Perform any additional tasks as required by management to support the team's success.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:

    • High school diploma or GED required.

    • Previous experience in maintenance, equipment repair, installation, or plant maintenance is preferred.

    • Ability to perform mechanical and electrical repairs with proficiency.

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.

    • Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools to perform maintenance tasks.

    • Ability to operate cutting torches and welding equipment for metal fabrication.

  • Licenses & Certifications:

    • A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required or willingness to obtain one.

  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions.

  • Physical demands include lifting heavy parts and working with machinery.
