Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Farm Equipment Operator to join our team. This position involves operating spreaders, sprayers, and floaters for the application of dry and liquid fertilizers, as well as chemicals such as anhydrous ammonia. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for performing routine maintenance on equipment to ensure smooth operations and timely service to our customers. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate spreaders, sprayers, and floaters for the efficient application of dry and liquid fertilizers and chemicals like anhydrous ammonia.
- Ensure accurate application rates to meet customer needs and safety standards.
- Perform routine maintenance on application equipment, ensuring it remains in top working condition.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment when needed to minimize downtime.
- Maintain detailed records of application activities, including product use, acreage covered, and equipment maintenance.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations when handling chemicals, fertilizers, and operating machinery.
- Assist with inventory management for fertilizers, chemicals, and other materials necessary for application.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies regarding the use of fertilizers and chemicals.
- Collaborate with the agronomy team to ensure customer satisfaction and address any concerns or questions related to applications.
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure timely and efficient delivery of services.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional agricultural or technical education is a plus.
- Experience in farm equipment operation or operating agricultural machinery preferred.
- Ability to safely operate spreaders, sprayers, floaters, and other agricultural machinery.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs on equipment.
- Knowledge of fertilizers, chemicals, and crop protection products is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
- Ability to work long hours during peak seasons and adapt to fluctuating work schedules.
