Job Summary
The Grain Elevator Operator plays a crucial role in the agricultural sector, responsible for overseeing the storage, handling, and distribution of grain. Duties
- Operate and maintain grain handling equipment, including elevators, conveyors, and dryers.
- Monitor grain quality during storage and transport to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to prevent breakdowns.
- Fabricate or repair equipment as needed to ensure optimal functionality.
- Coordinate the loading and unloading of grain trucks and railcars, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist in inventory management by tracking grain levels and reporting discrepancies.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and enhance operational efficiency.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Experience in food processing or food production environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with commercial driving, including tanker operations, is a plus.
- Proficient in heavy equipment operation, including forklifts and other machinery used in grain handling.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
