Klingberg is a private non-profit multi service agency who provides help to thousands of people across Connecticut each year. Our goal is to extend hope and healing to children and families whose lives have been traumatized by abuse and/or neglect in its various forms, sever family problems and mental health issues.

We are looking to hire a full time Bilingual Worker in our Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) Program. IFP is all about keeping families together. IFP is designed to quickly intervene and reduce immediate safety factors and the risk of future neglect and abuse of children. Services are intensive and short-term: twice a week for the first four weeks and a minimum of one visit for the remaining weeks of service based on the needs of the family and the length of service being 4-6 months. Under the direction of the Coordinator of Intensive Family Preservation, provides intensive home‑based services to families whose children are at imminent risk for being removed from their families. It requires 24‑hour on‑call availability to assist with problem diffusion, structuring and resolution.

Typical Duties Include:

Provides home‑based crisis oriented treatment and support to families, both as primary and backup therapist.

Carries a caseload as assigned.

Works a 40 hour non‑structured work week, including evenings and weekends.

Provides family education and skills training in formulation of goal‑oriented crisis treatment plans.

Quickly engages families in the intervention in order to reduce immediate safety factors, the risk of future abuse and/or neglect and the need for out of home placement of the child or children.

Provides services and interventions in order to mitigate the safety factors that have led to the removal of the child or children in the home.

Provides support, linkage and advocacy work with schools, court and other social service agencies as needed.

Assists family members with basic needs including making connections to traditional and non-traditional community supports and services.

Assists family member’s linkage to and engagement in therapeutic interventions as identified in the Service Plan.

Completes all DCF and IFP required paperwork within given time limits.

Keeps thorough and up‑to‑date client records.

Coordinates and collaborates with Department of Children and Families’ staff and other community collaterals including other in-home services.

On-call duties with other therapists on a rotating basis.


Education/Experience/Other Requirements:

Bilingual in Spanish.

Bachelor’s degree in social work or related area plus two-three years experience working with children and families may be substituted.

Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
