What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at Klingberg Comprehensive Program Services Inc?
Overview:
To provide a safe, positive, enriching summer experience for children ages 5-18 years old, by overseeing the youth's use of the pool as well as basic water testing and pool maintenance.
Typical Duties:
- With the support of Klingberg staff, supervise children in the pool and on the pool deck at all times
- Prevent drowning and other injuries from occurring
- Controlling unruly behavior
- Water rescue
- Administer First aid including CPR as needed
- Conduct head counts at regular intervals
- Administer swim test to determine if students can swim in the deep end of the pool
- Document which children pass the swim test
- Maintain open communication with program staff about any issues, trends or problems during use of the pool
- Test water regularly and clean pool as needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- High School Diploma
- Candidates must be able to ensure the safety of patrons by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors
- Experience working with youth 5-18
- Good communication skills
- Ability to problem solve
