Summary Of Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
- Verify that inspection procedures by all warehouse personnel are accurate and in compliance with quality control procedures.
- Establish quality control standards and procedures to be followed by the operations and sales departments and ensure that all necessary personnel are aware of these policies.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing material to ensure that specifications are met, refusing any shipments that do not meet specifications.
- Establish and maintain a program for providing actual chemical analysis for all carbon steel coils as the material arrives.
- Inspect all returns and rejected material in order to determine where errors were made and to prevent future errors.
- Establish programs to educate, train, and update all personnel on quality control procedures; develop and maintain a quality control manual.
- Establish, monitor, and maintain a system of providing heat numbers and tracing for all material in the warehouse.
- Develop specific programs for individual accounts as required and assist customers and other service centers in developing quality control procedures.
- Other duties as assigned
- Advanced level courses in Business Administration, or equivalent business experience
- 3-4 years of operations experience in a metals service center; at least 2 years of this experience should be in the areas of quality control and maintenance
- 2-year college degree or equivalent
- 5-7 years of experience in steel service industry
- Safety or compliance management experience
- Strong computer/technical skills
- Knowledge of ISO-9001, QS-9000, TS-16949, ISO-14000 standards
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Attention to detail and deadline oriented
- Excellent organization and time management skills
