Scheduling Manager

Job Summary

The Scheduling Manager is accountable for managing the planning and establishment of production schedules by working with the Materials Department, Sales and Production to efficiently schedule the processing of materials to ensure on time delivery. The Scheduling Manager may directly supervise Production Scheduler(s) and must effectively work with all other departments within the facility. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Job Responsibilities

• Works daily with Production Supervisors and Managers for optimal efficiency to meet the needs of customers, utilize available inventory and minimize Scrap.
• Maintain constant knowledge of plant workload and inventory stock levels to assist department managers and others in making scheduling decisions and inventory purchases.
• Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
• Work in conjunction with the Sales and Customer Service Department to ensure that all customer product and service quality requirements are achieved.
• Maintain constant knowledge of plant workload and inventory stock levels to assist department managers and others in making scheduling decisions and inventory purchases.
• Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of customer quality requirements

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of operations experience in a metals service center
• 2-year college degree or equivalent
• 5-7 years of experience in steel service industry
• Strong computer/technical skills
• Excellent analytical skills
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Attention to detail and deadline oriented
• Excellent organization and time management skills
