Klondike Cheese Co. is searching for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Team!

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for all aspects of production support including mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance, and project work.
2nd Shift: 12:00pm-done (approximately 10pm), Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturdays
Pay: To be based on experience -- 2nd shift also has a $2.00 2nd shift premium
Maintenance Technician job duties will include:
- Responsible for repairs to all plant equipment and building facilities.
- Responsible for preventative maintenance of production, packaging, and sanitation equipment.
- Will review technical information required for effective troubleshooting and repair.
- Responsible for electrical trouble shooting and repair.
- Will perform daily maintenance of all plant equipment as needed.
- Will be responsible for emergency repairs to equipment/machinery in breakdown situations.
- Installation of mechanical and electrical components.
- Responsible for inspection and maintenance of material handling equipment.
- Will perform inspection and repair of mechanical systems air, steam water and refrigeration.
- Responsible for pump inspection and repair.
- Responsible for recordkeeping of all preventative maintenance, repair and parts used.
- Assist janitorial staff if they have an issue they cannot resolve.
- Responsible for prompt and effective response and resolution to work orders.
- Operate special maintenance equipment like welders, grinder, jigs, etc.
- Read and understand electrical and mechanical prints and /or flowcharts to verify correct set up and usage.
- Request all replacement parts and /or equipment needed to keep production running efficiently.
- Install and repair electrical apparatus such as transformers, wires, etc. to set up or repair equipment.
- Install and repair pipe systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment to keep facility and equipment running efficiently and safely.
- Will build, fabricate, and weld special mechanical parts and devices to keep equipment running properly and efficiently.
- Assist in the maintenance and operation of wastewater treatment system, including wastewater irrigation and terrace dosing.
- Perform general sanitation of the maintenance department by organizing supplies, tools, keeping area neat, clean, and safe.
- Responsible for exterior snow removal as needed, and other additional duties assigned by Management.
- Must understand and follow procedures for DNR/WDA/USDA/FDA/OSHA.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of maintenance experience preferred; food production industry preferred.
- Experience with preventative maintenance and safety procedures/programs.
- Experience with or knowledge of production equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with or knowledge of mechanical systems, including drive chains, timing belts, gear boxes, bearings, and lubrication.
- Ability to manage and prioritize a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand complex verbal and written instructions, and Basic math and computer skills required.
- Good audit technique and follow up.
- Ability to write brief reports and log documentation.
- Ability to multitask and follow-up on employees on assigned tasks.
- Standing 80%, walking 20%, lifting up to maximum of 50 lbs., bending 20%, reaching 40%, reaching above shoulder 10%, pushing less than 5%, lifting up to 5 lbs. 15%, lifting 6 – 10 lbs. 20%, lifting 21 – 25 lbs. 20%, lifting 26 – 50 lbs. 15%, lifting over 50 lbs. 1%.
- Carrying up to 5 lbs. 5%, carrying 6-10 lbs. 10%, carrying 11 – 20 lbs. 15%, carrying 21 – 25 lbs. 10%, carrying 26 – 50 lbs. 5%, and carrying 51 – 100 lbs. 1%.
