Founded in 1911, Arnold Lumber provides the Rhode Island community with full-service lumber yards offering building materials, full lines of masonry supplies, cabinetry, and Kitchen & Bath Design Centers & Showrooms. Arnold Lumber has its RI locations in West Kingston, Bristol, Westerly, and Wakefield. Our Client’s goal is to provide the highest level of service, build long and mutually beneficial relationships with customers and employees, and develop new relationships with Contractors in the Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Eastern Connecticut communities. This position is on-site and will sit in the West Kingston office location.
Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The ideal candidate is experienced in all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and developing and maintaining internal control policies and procedures. This professional will be willing to roll up their sleeves and lead and develop a cohesive accounting team.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Assist the CFO with the management of all day-to-day accounting operations including A/R, A/P, and Payroll. Ensure staff is comfortable with cross-training throughout the department.
- Support the accounting department with all aspects of the general ledger.
- Manage a team of three with the ability to lead a larger team as the department continues to grow.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
The Successful Candidate will Bring:
- A minimum of seven years’ experience as an accountant, assistant controller, or similar role.
- Excellent understanding of GAAP and relevant financial accounting regulations.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (particularly Excel) and knowledge of accounting software programs – Great Plains is a plus.
- Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Experience in public accounting is a plus.
