Job Title: Compliance Technician - Cultivation and Processing
Classification: Non-exempt
Reports to: VP of Compliance, Quality Assurance Manager, Compliance & Logistics Manager, Compliance Supervisors
Job Summary: The Compliance Technician exists to support the Compliance Department in its endeavor to sustain and grow the business at Klutch Cannabis, through effective quality control monitoring of cannabis and cannabis products in the cultivation and processing facilities. The CT also functions as a METRC lead on the production floor and assists with record keeping and inventory.
Essential Functions
· Coordinate with all of Compliance Management to help Klutch maximize value, mitigate risk, identify and solve problems, provide timely solutions, and enhance the overall appearance, appeal and/or safety of the products Klutch produces.
· Make use of state-mandated METRC seed-to-sale software to monitor all plant and package movements and processes throughout klutch facilities, alongside internal tracking documentation.
· Meet daily and weekly with Compliance Management to stay abreast of upcoming compliance, quality, inventory and METRC-related changes throughout facilities, and report on compliance, quality, inventory, or METRC-related issues.
· Responsible for helping to ensure that all products produced by Klutch Cannabis meet our high standards for quality, aesthetics, and consistency, both for Klutch-branded products and those products sold under third-party brands.
· Provide ongoing support of Klutch’s Compliance and Quality Initiatives by conducting regular process control checks for Work-in-Process, Packaging, and Labeling. This is achieved by:
o conducting routine and unannounced audits for cultivation and processing facilities, as well as internal audits of all METRC submissions
o being present and alert in production areas
o staying up to date on all applicable rules and regulations
o ensuring that all employees adhere to established quality/compliance protocols
· Performing various METRC-related duties on a regular basis, as a METRC lead on the production floor. These functions can include, but are not limited to, receiving plant material and other ingredients into the system, intermediate product and production batch creation, package creation, transport manifest generation, waste reporting, clone batch creation, plant and package movements, plant harvests, growth phase changes, additive and pesticide application logging, and plant destruction.
· Create and review Product Facts (COA) labels for product packages and assist with the creation and management of production tracking records.
· Responsible for monitoring the quality attributes of the operation; including examining packaging and packaged materials for errors and participating in the ideation and implementation of corrective actions.
· Complete process control checks for WIP products, packaging, and verification of batch records for accuracy and completeness.
· Perform weekly and monthly cycle counts in conjunction with other compliance personnel of all inventoried rooms, including plant rooms, storage rooms with METRC-tracked packages, and vaults.
· Complete pre-operation inspections and line changeovers, including cleaning and sanitation verifications and recordkeeping of processing machinery and processes.
· Conduct third-party lab sampling of marijuana products per weekly testing schedule and review the transfer manifests generated during the testing session for completeness and correctness.
· Daily/weekly uploads to Company’s sales and inventory platform (i.e. LeafLink) of packaged final product that is ready for sale. Ensure the information uploaded is complete and accurate per reported weights, counts, pricing, and product type.
· Assist the Compliance Team with the maintenance of SOP materials, logs, and general record maintenance for cannabis cultivation and processing facilities.
· Serve as a backup to the Logistics department (within Compliance) to perform reconciliatory reviews of invoices against transfer manifests and packaged products slated for dispensary delivery, to ensure order completeness and correctness.
· Assist the Compliance Team in preparation for state inspections, quarterly and annually.
· Familiarizes self with the provisions of OAC 3796 and ORC 3796.
· Perform other related duties, including short- or long-term projects, as assigned by the VP of Compliance and other management personnel that complement the employees’ background, experience, and other job duties.
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree preferred
· Cannabis industry experience 1 year preferred
· METRC experience is preferred
Physical Requirements
- The employee is frequently required to sit and type for 6 hours each shift
- The employee is frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or reach
- The employee is required to safely lift and/or move up to 25lbs on a frequent basis
- The employee may need to make use of scaffolding and/or ladders

Working Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment, processing facility, commercial kitchen, and cultivation facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Stipulation of employment is passing an OHIO BCI and FBI background check in accordance with ORC/OAC 3796.
Employees are not allowed to work on the premises until the badge is activated in the Ohio Department of Medical Marijuana e-Licensing portal.
Must be 21 years or older for this position.
