What are the responsibilities and job description for the Class 'A' CDL Truck Driver position at Klute Inc.?
PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
Deliver black steel to designated galvanizing companies and return galvanized steel loads back to the facility. Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance and complying with all safe work practices, policies and processes at all times. Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy. May make deliveries to intrastate customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations.
- Maneuver the vehicle in difficult situations.
- Inspect truck for defects before and after trips, ensure load is secure and safe before strapping.
- Assist workers in loading and unloading material and help out in the Shipping Department as needed.
- Obtains correct paperwork for load picked up.
- Maintain ELD truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
- Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and straps.
- Position blocks and straps around items to secure cargo during transit.
- Remove straps after transit and inspect and store.
- Maintain truck regularly by washing the outside and cleaning inside.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
- Submit to background checks and random drug and alcohol screens.
