Ophthalmic Billing Specialist

Riverside Eye Surgery Center is seeking an Ophthalmic Billing Specialist to work in their Lewiston, Maine office. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely billing, claim submission, and reimbursement for ophthalmic services.
\n- Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience, preferably in ophthalmology or a related specialty.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and EHR systems
- Strong understanding of ophthalmic coding, including CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes.
- Familiarity with payer-specific guidelines for ophthalmology services (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurers).
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical billing compliance.
- Training in medical billing and coding (CPC, COA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience with surgical billing and ASC billing processes preferred.
- Experience working with prior authorizations and payer appeals.
- Hourly pay of $20-25 based on experience

- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims for ophthalmic procedures and services.
- Review and verify coding accuracy (CPT, ICD-10) for claims before submission.
- Ensure claims are compliant with payer guidelines and billing regulations.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing and insurance, providing clear and professional assistance.
- Monitor accounts receivable and ensure timely collections.
- Work with patients and insurance companies to resolve outstanding balances.
- Maintains, compiles and processes patient medical records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with regulations.
- Track submitted claims and follow up with insurance companies on unpaid or denied claims.
