Pulmonary Function Technologist (part-time or full-time)
South Portland, Maine
Chest Medicine Associates, a medical practice specializing in Pulmonary, Sleep, and Critical Care Medicine, is seeking a part-time or full-time Pulmonary Function Technologist to be based in the South Portland office.
This is a weekday position with no nighttime or weekend responsibilities.
\n- At least 3 years of prior experience performing pulmonary function testing is preferred.
- Credentialing by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT or RPFT) is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of pulmonary function testing and Pulmonary Function Laboratory Policies and Procedures.
- Current Basic Life Support certificate
- Ability to work onsite M-F in South Portland, Maine. This is a weekday position with no night or weekend responsibilities.

- Obtains vital signs and arterial blood gas specimens.
- Performs pulmonary function tests, including spirometry with bronchodilator, plethysmography, diffusing capacity, methacholine challenge, MVV and respiratory muscle strength measurements, high altitude simulation, exercise oximetry, and 6-minute walk tests.
- Documents testing and care in electronic medical record.
- Prepares, maintains, and calibrates pulmonary function testing equipment.
- Supervises PFT Lab.
- Ensures quality control.
- Completes preventative maintenance requirements.
- Follows manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions; calls for repairs; and orders supplies.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects practice operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
