Risk Management & Insurance Specialist
South Portland, Maine
EPCO is seeking a Risk Management & Insurance Specialist, to be based in the South Portland, Maine office. The Risk Management & Insurance Specialist will play a key role in identifying and managing risks to minimize potential loss and ensure the organization is adequately protected and compliant. The Risk Management and Insurance Specialist will manage insurance programs, develop enterprise risk management strategies, and oversee claims and loss prevention initiatives.
\n- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in risk management and insurance claims, property management insurance experience required.
- Associate degree in Risk Management (ARM), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPU), or Certified Risk Manager highly preferred.
- Knowledge of risk management principles and methods.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Analytical mindset with experience in budgeting and accounting.
- Strong technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and affordable housing and business software.
- Exceptional problem solving and project management skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Annual pay in the range of $75,000 - $90,000

- Track property insurance claims from incident report through resolution and distribution of insurance proceeds.
- Track liability claims and interface with management staff, legal and insurance representatives.
- Interface with Lenders and Investors to provide evidence of adequate insurance, information about claims and coverages.
- Interface with site staff, accounting staff and Owners as needed to ensure all insurance claims are managed to meet Owner expectations.
- Act as primary liaison to insurance brokers for quarterly insurance claim review meetings and annual stewardship meetings.
- Identify root causes of material insurance claims and recommend risk mitigation strategies and practice.
- Review and maintain existing risk management policy guidelines offering recommendations for review and approval.
- Review and amend as needed property-level operations procedures (snow removal, debris clearing, temperature control, etc.) and monitor tracking data monthly.
- Develop and oversee implementation of portfolio-wide disaster response and resiliency plan.
- Review Workers Comp practices and develop protocols as needed.
