RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to assigned tasks in the GPO’s assignment tracking system ServiceNow
- Develop and modify reports in Microsoft Power BI based on business unit requests
- Build and update semantic models using Azure Synapse, incorporating new data fields and structures as needed
- Identify required data and its relationships within systems such as Oracle Federal Financials, SQL Server, and other enterprise platforms
- Coordinate with the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) team to establish or synchronize new data feeds to the Synapse Data Lake
- Add new fields and data elements to semantic models when data already exists in the Data Lake
- Work iteratively with business unit stakeholders to validate report outputs and gather feedback for refinement
- Ensure developed reports align with user requirements and meet production standards before release
- Maintain documentation of report specifications, development steps, and release notes
- Support the transition from SAP Business Objects to Power BI by helping replicate and modernize legacy reporting assets
- Respond to ad hoc reporting requests throughout the contract year, including audit, compliance, and management dashboards
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Proficiency in Power BI, including report structuring and data modeling concepts required
- Knowledge of semantic modeling principles within cloud data architectures required
- Knowledge of Azure Synapse features (e.g., pipelines, workspaces, etc.) required
- Knowledge of ServiceNow or similar assignment tracking systems required
- Knowledge of SAP Business Objects report architecture preferred
- Proficiency with DAX, Power Query (M language), or similar scripting tools preferred
BACKGROUND
- 5 years of experience developing reports using Microsoft Power BI required
- Experience building and modifying semantic models using Azure Synapse or a similar cloud-based platform required
- Experience identifying and integrating data from systems such as Oracle Federal Financials, SQL Server, or other enterprise databases required
- Experience coordinating with technical teams such as the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) team to establish or synchronize data feeds required
- Experience participating in iterative development cycles with business unit stakeholders required
- Experience responding to tasks or work assignments in ServiceNow or a comparable assignment tracking platform required
- Experience developing or modernizing reports to support a transition from SAP Business Objects to Power BI preferred
- Experience supporting ad hoc report development, including compliance, audit, and executive-level dashboards preferred
- Experience documenting report specifications, data mapping, or release notes preferred
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, business, or a related field preferred
