Position Summary / Objective:
KMS Solutions is seeking a highly motivated individual to join a team of engineers and technicians providing engineering and technical support to the Environmental Qualification Test (EQT) Team at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport RI. This multi-disciplinary team works with system program managers, system engineers, and test engineers responsible completing EQT for their programs. The EQT disciplines include Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Power Interface, and Mechanical Environmental.
The position requires in depth knowledge and background in EQT the disciplines. This includes (1) EMC areas for emissions and susceptibility, (2) Power Interface areas of voltage frequency tolerance, spike, grounding, inrush, leakage, etc., and (3) Mechanical Environmental areas of temperature, humidity, shock, vibration, inclination, enclosure, noise, and pressure.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. Attendance at prescheduled mandatory meetings is required. Must be available during the core work hours as determined by your contract/location and must account for the required number of hours in a pay period to maintain Full-time status.

- Maintain current EQT status for Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES) for EMC, Power Interface, and Mechanical Environmental requirements.
- Advise NPES Program Managers on EQT requirements and subsystem requirements.
- Review subsystem EQT plans and procedures to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Review subsystem EQT results and update the EQT tracking matrix accordingly.
- Support EQT technical advisory boards such as the EMC Advisory Board, Power Interface Working Group, and Shock Qualification System Integration Meeting.
- Track subsystem configurations versus hill to ensure accurate EQT status of each boat.
- Track team actions, record meeting minutes, develop briefs, and update the EQT database and spreadsheets to record changes, track results, and generate metrics.
- Active Secret DoD clearance
- Bachelor’s Degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math field
- Five (5) years of providing EQT support of an NPES system
- Ten (10) years providing EQT support of an NPES system
- Five (5) years of NUWC Division Newport specific experience
- Capable of effectively working and problem solving in both independent and team environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
