Summary / objective :

KMS Solutions is seeking an experienced Software System Safety Engineer to join our team of engineers providing System and Software Safety engineering to the NAVSEA Enterprise. The ideal candidate will apply engineering and management principles, criteria, & techniques to optimize safety within constraints of operational effectiveness, time, & cost throughout the system life-cycle.

Essential functions :

• Research and analyze system design drawings, specifications, manuals, and other data to determine Systems readiness for deployment, from a system safety perspective.
• Evaluate life cycle test, operation, maintenance and other performance phases of equipment, components, and systems from a system safety perspective.
• Investigate potential system failures and life cycle hazards and make recommendations to ensure safe and effective operation and deployment and mitigate failure effect and frequency.
• Perform Hazard analyses (Preliminary, System Requirements, Subsystem, Operating and Support, Health, Functional, SoS, Environmental)
• Oversee production of Safety Assessment Reports and other Hazard Assessment Reporting.
• Conduct Model-based systems engineering for System Safety.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work :

The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. Must be available during the core work hours as determined by your contract / location and must account for the hours in a pay period to maintain Full-time status.

Telework :

This is a Hybrid position and may allow for up to 40% telework.

Travel :

Up to 10% travel may be required [CONUS / OCONUS].
