Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and driving financial process improvements to support the company’s continued growth.
The Senior Accountant will work under the direction of the Assistant Controller, supporting the financial operations of KMT Waterjet and its sister subsidiary. This role will involve preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and analyzing financial data to provide valuable insights for strategic decision-making.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee general accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger.
- Perform and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analyses to ensure accuracy.
- Drive the month-end and year-end close processes for assigned entities.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and internal controls to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Coordinate and support external audits, preparing necessary documentation and liaising with auditors.
- Assist in supervising, training, and mentoring accounting staff to enhance team effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting functions.
- Support ad hoc financial projects and reporting as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with advanced knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to mentor and develop accounting staff.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
- 2-3 years of accounting experience with a background in public accounting, or 3-5 years of industry experience without public accounting.
- Experience in a manufacturing company is preferred.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
