Description
We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-conscious machinist to join our team.
Summary
Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Thinks safety and exercises safe work habits in daily endeavors.
2. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
3. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
4. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
5. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
6. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
7. Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
8. Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
9. Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
10. Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
11. Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
12. Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
13. Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
14. Removes slag or burrs from edges of work piece.
15. Cleans machine and tooling.
16. Performs machine maintenance
17. Performs the duties of a Plasma Punch Operator.
18. Performs the duties of a NC Nester.
19. Sharpens machine tools, including punches and dies used at plasma-punch operations.
20. Gathers parts for dealer loader hydraulic kits. Gathers and packages spare parts for dealer loaders.
21. Performs the duties of a Shipper/Receiver. May take packages to be shipped to US Post Office or shipping company.
22. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 1. Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
3. Mathematical Skills - Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers with three decimal places and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement and volume, and both American and metric distance.
4. Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
