Description
We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-conscious shipping and receiving professional to join our team. The shipping and receiving position will be responsible for receiving materials, preparing product to ship, moving materials needed in the production of our products. This position will not only be responsible for the physical movement of product, but will also need to be able to move it in our electronic inventory system from place to place.
Summary
Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments, prepares items for shipment, loads and unloads containers, trucks and vans using forklifts and hand trucks, stores, maintains and tracks inventory, by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Thinks safety and exercises safe work habits in daily endeavors.
2. Carefully inspects incoming shipments for damage.
3. Unloads shipments from ocean-going containers, trucks and vans, mainly consisting of tractors, loaders, backhoes, mowers and related parts that are crated, on pallets, in boxes or on steel wheels, using forklifts and pallet jacks or driving the tractor under its own power, exercising care not to cause damage to the shipments or the container, truck or van it arrived.
4. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures incoming items to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, serial numbers, orders, or other records.
5. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, completes damage reports, records shortages, corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages, preforms quality audit on incoming shipments, confirms serial numbers, and completes receiving forms.
6. Operates forklift or uses handtruck to move shipments to storage or work area, routes items to departments.
7. Keeps and maintains inventory in orderly fashion and ensures inventory is used in a first-in, first-out manner.
8. Identifies outgoing shipments by model and serial numbers, matches parts to be shipped against orders, examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet quality standards and completes all required forms and identifying labels required for shipment.
9. Drives tractors onto outgoing trucks and vans, exercising care not to cause damage to the shipment or the truck or van being loaded, ensures truck drivers properly secure shipments and documents with pictures.
10. Other duties as assigned.

1. Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three months related experience.
2. Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
3. Mathematical Skills - Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement and volume, and both American and metric distance.
4. Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
5. Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual will be required to use a computer and Microsoft Office (Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express and Word).
6. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations -A valid Kansas driver's license, fork truck training certification.
7. Other Skills and Abilities – Safety training.
