What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at Knapheide Manufacturing?
Position Overview:
This position monitors, analyzes, and reports cost-related data for products or projects. They collaborate with departments, such as engineering, production, procurement, and finance, to collect and analyze cost information, ensuring the organization remains efficient and competitive, resulting in accurate financials. They will also be responsible for inventory cycle count accuracy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs monthly inventory reconciliations.
- Prepares and processes monthly journal entries to accrue or adjust cost to reflect actual manufacturing expenses.
- Completes periodic physical inventory cycle counts (raw material, finished goods, and off-site inventory). Once count is complete analyzes results and their impact to the Income statement.
- Calculate and track costs of goods sold, including labor, material, and production costs.
- Provides analysis and review of plant operational costs to be reviewed by executives.
- Performs year end procedures for closing and costing roll-up.
- Assist in completing future year budget.
- Reviews daily manufacturing variances, edit reports for inventory, and costing.
- Interacts with cross-functional teams including plant operations, procurement, and other administrative departments daily.
- Develop and maintain cost estimation models for new products.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies while assisting internal and external audits related to cost accounting.
Position Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically in Excel.
Physical/Mental Requirements Needed to Perform the Essential Functions of the Position:
Ability to have prompt analyzing and response time when asked. Normal standing, bending, walking, lifting in an office environment. Ability to verbally communicate with individuals. Flexibility in day to day activities.
Salary : $55,000 - $70,000
