Summary of Position:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the manufacturing process to ensure efficient production, high-quality output, and timely delivery of products. This role involves managing resources, coordinating between departments, and leading a team of production staff. Key responsibilities include implementing production schedules, monitoring production performance, maintaining safety standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Manager works closely with quality control, procurement, and logistics teams to streamline operations and meet production targets in alignment with company goals. This position requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic production environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage Production Department by supervising and coaching Production employees and daytime operators. Ensure that department works towards achieving safety, quality, productivity and efficiency goals.
- Support Plant policies, programs, and initiatives and actively work with Plant leadership to continuously analyze and improve these policies, programs, and initiatives.
- Investigate quality complaints when received from Customers. Attempt to find the root cause of the off-quality product and adjust systems to avoid repeat problems.
- Maintain ISO documentation compliance for the Production Department.
- Take care of employee work schedules, training, vacations, and leave of absences. Maintain sufficient manpower within department to meet production demands.
- Institute procedures and changes to department to optimize the efficiency of the operation.
- Work with Engineering, Maintenance and Process Engineering groups to see that the departments are working in concert to maximize plant performance and continuously improve the operation.
- Maintain positive labor relations within department. Address problem situations as needed with the assistance and involvement of Human Resources.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping in all areas of responsibility.
- Advise management by summarizing data, preparing reports, evaluating new product proposals and educating plant staff regarding customer needs.
- Assist in the development of department budgets.
- Responsible for all other duties, as assigned.
- Drives the highest levels of employee retention and engagement to ensure a sustainable workforce.
- Fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the organization.
- Instills an environment of inclusion, where all employees feel that they can contribute and impact the company in a positive manner.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management or related field
Experience:
- Minimum five (5) to eight (8) years of production experience in an Industrial Manufacturing facility
- Minimum five (5) years of management/supervisory experience in a similar environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to travel approximately 10-15% of the time
