This role will focus on improving fiberglass manufacturing processes, managing capital projects, and driving innovation in equipment design and process optimization. Must live near or willing to relocate to one of the following areas: Shelbyville, IN, Albion, MI, Inwood, WV, Lanett, AL, McGregor, TX, Shasta Lake, CA
- Provide mechanical engineering expertise for maintenance and capital projects.
- Guide staff engineers and designers at both corporate and plant levels to improve fiberglass manufacturing processes.
- Design and/or redesign mechanical equipment for insulation manufacturing.
- Manage contractors and engineers for the design, installation, and startup of equipment.
- Develop improved processes to enhance quality, reduce scrap, and optimize raw material utilization.
- Assist in the startup and debugging of new production facilities.
- Pursue new technologies and equipment to benefit the company.
- Provide training for operators on new or improved processes.
- Offer troubleshooting assistance for processes or equipment as requested by plants.
- Assist in developing the annual Capital Spending Plan for major projects.
- Ensure all drawings are updated and entered into the Knauf drawing system.
- Develop and publish standards and specifications for fiberglass manufacturing equipment.
- Educate engineers on best practices in fiberglass insulation manufacturing.
- Drives the highest levels of employee retention and engagement to ensure a sustainable workforce.
- Fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the organization.
- Instills an environment of inclusion, where all employees feel that they can contribute and impact the company in a positive manner.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, or
- 10 years of experience in industrial plant design and/or engineering with a background in project management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong knowledge of building and construction, engineering principles, and production processes.
- Familiarity with insulation manufacturing processes is preferred.
- Expertise in design techniques, technical plans, blueprints, and models.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to manage financial, material, and personnel resources effectively.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and with external contractors.
- Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time.
- Presentation skills and active listening abilities.
