Overview
We are searching for a head baker/pastry chef to join our artisan bakery in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We specialize in sourdough, wild-fermentation, gluten-free and mostly vegan baked goods. Previous experience with this is not required, we use many classic techniques for our menu.
The ideal candidate has at least 4 years experience in commercial baking, managing a team, and good communication skills. Our current production schedule is Mon-Fri, 6-3
The ideal candidate will be a leader in the kitchen, working with the team to complete weekly production schedule. We speak both Spanish and English in the kitchen.
A healthy daily lunch is provided.
Duties
- Weigh/measure and follow and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to established recipes and standards
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop new pastry items and seasonal offerings, work well with others.
- Ensure all food handling and safety regulations are followed to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Package finished products for orders, ensuring they meet presentation standards with attention to detail.
Experience
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen, minimum 4 years specifically in pastry or baking roles, is required
- Strong knowledge of food handling, safety regulations, and sanitation practices within the food industry.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S/have food handlers license
- Can move through challenges with positivity, work together as a team when problems arise
- Must be able to lift up to 50# at times, stand for 8 hours , portioning
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 38 per week
