Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support the optometrist in providing exceptional eye care services to our patients. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of clinic operations, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Duties
- Assist the optometrist during eye examinations and procedures.
- Take and record vital signs as needed.
- Manage patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Greet patients at the front desk, schedule appointments, and handle inquiries.
- Provide information about eyewear products and assist patients with selections.
- Maintain inventory of optical supplies and equipment.
- Perform basic medical coding for insurance purposes.
- Support retail operations by applying retail math skills for sales transactions.
- Ensure the clinic environment is clean, organized, and welcoming for patients.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of anatomy related to the eye and vision care is preferred.
- Experience in a clinical or healthcare setting is a plus.
- Familiarity with medical records management systems is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Sales experience in a retail or healthcare context is advantageous.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to patient confidentiality.
