Duties and / or Responsibilities :
- Uses safe work procedures that comply with safety policies and regulations. (Federal, state, local and company policies).
- Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
- Safely and properly perform maintenance on paving machine.
- Safely and properly operate adjusting mechanism of paving machine. Bolts extensions to screed to adjust width as needed.
- Heat screed at beginning of shift.
- Observes distribution of paving material along screed and controls direction of screed.
- Clean screed at end of shift.
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous / respectful of others.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve situations / problems (material quality, equipment operation / repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers / supervisors.
- Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
- Job requires steady to intermittent and repetitive physical activity including : standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven ground, lifting, carrying, pushing, shoveling, and raking.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
One year or more experience operating screed equipment
