JOB TITLE: Security Officer
DEPARTMENT: Security
REPORTS TO: Security Supervisor
Working Hours: Tuesday- Saturday 7am-4pm
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position is responsible, within the limits of delegated authority, for ensuring that security operations are in compliance with local rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Responsible for responding to risk management issues and assisting in loss prevention programs in support of a safe and secure working environment. Further, this position is responsible for site security to ensuring the protection of personnel, visitors and their property, as well as all Company assets including property, buildings and grounds by all safety, security and emergency policies, rules and regulations. Must be able to work flexible hours as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of two years previous security experience.
- Previous Law Enforcement, Military, or Corrections Officer experience.
- Class D security certificate required.
- Position has a high degree of guest contact in sometimes difficult situations; position requires good written/verbal communication skills and ability to communicate information with tact.
- Must have valid Florida Driver’s License.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:
- Control entrance and access to the plant and its operations.
- Provide first response for incidents/accidents under the purview of Security.
- Conform to and apply safety, security and risk management programs by enforcing loss control standards and prevention programs to minimize loss of assets and potential liability claims from visitors and employees.
- Assure compliance with safety procedures, industry practice and requirements involving company products.
- Report all safety, security, liability, property damages and accident claims.
- Conduct preliminary internal investigations of all reports and claims.
- Keep abreast of general loss prevention and safety/security issues and identify opportunities for improvement of established programs.
- Advise management on issues related to risk management and safety/security.
- Provide feedback regarding perceived/actual needs/ideas for new programs.
- Communicate and promote acceptance of and compliance with loss prevention, security and safety programs among employees.
- Assist in safety drills and demonstrations.
- Conduct daily inspections of the grounds/facilities.
- Responsible for the daily log of security activity. Ensure log contains an accurate record of activity including but not limited to, incident reports, key issuance, gate activity and shift rounds.
- Ensure all employees consistently follow departmental and corporate safety and security standards.
