SUMMARY A maintenance helper works alongside fully qualified maintenance technicians, electricians, operators and instrument technicians to learn the skills of the trade. As a maintenance helper, your responsibilities are to assist with a variety of duties, including installing equipment, maintaining mechanical systems, and repairing machines. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Perform schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skillset.
- Patrol and monitor work areas and examine tools and equipment in order to detect unsafe conditions or violations of procedures or safety rules.
- Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
- Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, and replacement parts.
- Attending training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
- Communicating with Supervisors, & Peers – Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- Getting Information – Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
- Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings – Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
- Making Decisions and Solving Problems – Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material – Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
