About the Role:
As we continue to expand our reach, we are looking for a Controller to help advance our strategic business development goals. Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing and providing support in all areas of finance for multiple entertainment entities within our portfolio including but not limited to, accounts payable, payroll processing, cash control, forecasting/budgeting, data analysis, financial reporting & systems implementation/project management. The ideal candidate will harbor an innate interest in helping to grow the accounting team to further our success.
Responsibilities:
Manages accounting for multiple entities encompassing a variety of industries including gaming, entertainment, hospitality, food & beverage, and real estate.
Ensures accuracy of the general ledger, overseeing all journal entries, accruals, recurring transactions, and monthly/quarterly closing activities.
Prepares cash flow forecasts and oversees daily bank balance activity to mitigate risk and ensure optimal operating cash reserves.
Conducts data complication, analysis, review, and reporting.
Works with outside CPA firms to complete corporate tax returns, filings, and payments.
Manages, oversees, and reviews all vendor accounts and external relationships.
Prepares and develops Excel reports and other tools for analyzing various aspects of company performance and presents data to Senior Management.
Assists with the development and tracking of various departmental and corporate metrics/KPIs.
Researches, analyzes and spearheads process and system improvements to maximize organizational efficiency and improve the bottom line.
Collaborates with the Operations, Development, HR and IT teams on organizational initiatives and strategic planning and executes special ad-hoc projects as needed.
Skills & Abilities:
Stellar ability to analyze, evaluate, and compile data into concise reports and presentations.
Solid understanding of GAAP and expert-level knowledge of financial accounting principles.
Strong problem solving, multitasking and information analysis skills.
Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws conclusions.
Prioritizes and works well under pressure to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Positive, highly adaptable, collaborative, team player, with an entrepreneurial mind set.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
CPA designation required. MBA a plus.
7-10 years of experience in corporate or public accounting with progressive advancement.
Experience managing organizations with minimum annual revenue of $50M preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Excel (including knowledge of pivot tables, v-lookups, and other key analytical techniques) required.
Working knowledge of NetSuite is preferred.
