Lowboy Truck Driver

Description

Purpose: 

The Lowboy Truck Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a truck and trailer for the transportation of equipment, machinery, and materials such as sand, gravel, and other crushed material from Knight’s Companies locations and local suppliers and delivering to concrete plant or job locations and customers as dispatched. In this position, the Driver will load construction equipment (may include but are not limited to front end loader, crusher equipment, fuel tanks, dozer, excavator, oversized loads) onto trailer and transport to various construction sites. This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of equipment/trucks. 

Essential Functions:

• Safely operate a Tractor to haul a trailer containing loads of equipment, machinery, and materials such as sand, gravel, and other crushed material to and from local suppliers, concrete jobs and plant locations, and customers.
• Ensure safe, secure, and efficient delivery of machinery, equipment, and materials to and from destination.
• Follow company procedures for transportation, dumping, spreading, back spreading, hauling away, etc.
• Ensure that the proper product is loaded prior to leaving.
• Properly track and document activity log, trip tickets, and other paperwork as required.
• Report any truck, trailer, and/or route issues or incidents to dispatch.
• Inspect truck and trailer before and after the trip.
• Ensure that the truck cab and trailer are kept clean and tidy at the end of each workday.
• Adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures.
• Follow company-assigned safety policies and procedures without exception.
• Attend company-provided and/or company-sponsored training classes as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Valid Class-A CDL with a minimum of three years of professional driving experience preferred.
• Current DOT Physical.
• Clean driving record.
• Prior experience driving a flatbed, operating a tractor dump, step-deck, or other specialized equipment preferred but not required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to work a variable-hour schedule.
• Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to be initiative-taking, proactive and an effective collaborator.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, type, carry, kneel, ascend and descent stairs, and bend. 
• Ability to work primarily indoors with occasional work outdoors in multiple types of weather / environmental conditions.
