Overview
Senior Systems Engineers are responsible for the configuration and administration of all hosted and non-hosted Open Systems infrastructure platforms, Middleware technologies, and Telephony/Network systems. Including Implementation and administration of Single Sign On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), encryption (TLS, SSL, etc.) protocols, and Digital Certificate installation/management.
Resolution of Service and Incident requests and management of any Problem and/or Change management assignments, including remediation of security-related vulnerabilities (including application of security packages) and administration, troubleshooting, and resolution of Firewall, Load balancer, reverse proxy, DNS, FTP, and other networking issues.

The wage range for this role takes into account a broad array of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The range below applies as long as the work is performed in Connecticut; the Knights of Columbus reserves the right to adjust the wage range if the position is performed in another location. At the Knights of Columbus, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $104,500 - 172,400.

Core Responsibilities
- Senior Systems Engineer (SSE) must have the ability to work independently and act as project lead on enterprise-level technical initiatives.
- SSE will have excellent documentation skills and be able to provide written and verbal guidance to SEs.
- Configuration and administration of all hosted and non-hosted Open system infrastructure platforms, middleware technologies, telephony/network and database systems. Including implementation and administration of Single Sign On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), encryption (TLS, SSL, etc.) protocols, and Digital Certificate installation/management.
- Resolution of Service and Incident requests and management of any problem change management assignments, including remediation of security-related vulnerabilities (application of security packages). Basic administration and troubleshooting/resolution of Firewall, Load balancer, reverse proxy, DNS, FTP, and other networking issues.
- Work closely with all managed service providers responsible for supporting KofC’s hosted infrastructure, backup, and disaster recovery services. This includes reporting and responding to incidents and coordinating any changes and updates.
- Acts as an escalation point for Level 1 Service desk personnel as well as other Systems Engineers on all complex issues.
- Accountable for cross-training of SEs, expectation is for SSE to work with Engineering on projects and assist in training SEs/SAs on newly implemented solutions.
- On-call and/or after-hours work required

Required :
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with installing and configuring enterprise applications
- Experience with Windows and Linux based Open systems
- Knowledge of PowerShell and windows batch scripting
- Knowledge of Active directory and group policy administration
- Knowledge of Cloud architecture and concepts
- Experience with digital certificate Administration and Management
- Understanding of different types of directory structures such as IBM LDAP
- Conceptual understanding of different application patterns such as client-server and N-tier (multitier) web application architecture
- Experience with basic network constructs, Firewall, Load balancer, reverse proxy, DNS, FTP
- Experience with Java application servers (WebSphere, Tomcat, etc.)
Required:
- BS or BA in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent combination of experience and training
- 7 â 10 years of information technology experience in assigned discipline or equivalent combination of training and experience
- ITIL Foundation certificate
