Job Description
Title: Program Support Assistant
Program: Knik House – Transitional Living
Classification: Part Time
Function of work:
- Under the general direction of the Program Director (PD) and Program Navigator (PN), the Program Support Assistant, supports the program with ensuring clients’ needs are met while establishing and maintaining an environment that is consistent with program values.
Requirements:
- Personal transportation
- Current driver’s license, vehicle insurance
- Ability to pass a drug screening and background check
Experience:
- Nonprofit program experience specifically in serving the sub-populations typical of homeless adults
Required skills:
- Ability to:
- Work as a team member including accepting and providing supervision
- Build rapport with clients, staff, and community partners while maintaining professional boundaries
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, conflict resolution skills, interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills including ability to utilize the internet for job search, housing, and transportation options
- Ability to work independently at all levels of the program
- Facilitate rides for clients to appointments, work, job center, housing
- Assist PD and PN with client needs
Responsibilities:
- Work with PD and PN in monitoring and supervising the clients’ affairs
- Assist clients in our program with needs and questions in accordance with program policies and procedures
- Monitor activities of clients ensuring they stay on task, report progress to PD and PN
- Help clients resolve any issues that arise
- Respond to in-person inquiries professionally
- Assess crisis intervention: determining how to resolve conflict and who needs to be involved (Director, Executive Director, Law enforcement)

- Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, bend and stoop to access information and materials in file cabinets, shelves and closets
- Normal range of hearing and vision is required in this position with or without correction
- Ability to work with frequent distractions
- Frequently requires use of equipment such as telephone, copiers, computers and fax machine
- Ability to load, transport and unload groceries and supplies

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
Schedule:
- Evening shift
- Every weekend
