Overview
Knollwood Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Admissions Coordinator to join our nursing home team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the admissions process, ensuring that all necessary documentation is collected and processed efficiently. This position requires a strong understanding of medical records, clerical tasks, and familiarity with healthcare terminology, particularly in relation to Medicare and Medicaid. The Admissions Coordinator will work closely with patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to facilitate smooth admissions into our facility under the supervision and direction of the Admissions Director.
Duties
- Manage the admissions process from initial inquiry through to patient intake.
- Collect and verify medical records and relevant documentation for new admissions.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation is uploaded to our EMR System for accurate patient billing and care.
- Utilize programs and available resources for managing patient information and scheduling.
- Maintain organized office records and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their admissions, including explaining procedures and answering questions.
- Process medical collections as required, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding accounts.
- Collaborate with hospital staff to facilitate seamless transitions for patients entering care.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a clerical or administrative role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Marketing experience is preferred
- Familiarity with medical records management terminology is essential.
- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid processes and regulations is a plus.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, particularly PCC.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, their families and staff.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
