JOB DESCRIPTION:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all machinery, equipment, and systems within the manufacturing facility. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and implementing repairs to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules. The Senior Maintenance Engineer will collaborate with production teams, maintenance and other support teams, adhere to safety regulations, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives specific to brake manufacturing processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment, CNC machines, assembly lines, and testing systems used in brake production.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues in machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify potential failures or inefficiencies, proposing solutions to enhance reliability.
- Maintain and troubleshoot automated systems, robotics, and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) commonly used in brake component manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, including OSHA regulations, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with production supervisors to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to brake manufacturing workflows.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and spare parts inventory.
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment or upgrades specific to brake production.
- Support quality control by ensuring machinery meets tolerances and specifications for brake components (e.g., pads, rotors, calipers).
- Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to brake manufacturing and equipment maintenance.
- Participates in the development of design and installation specifications of new equipment and modified installations.
- Participates in the final check of new equipment for acceptance testing to assure adherence of functional specifications.
- Create PM plan for new equipment and modified installations as well as optimize current PM plans for equipment.
- Create predictive maintenance plans based on risks identified using Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Criticality analysis
- Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations
- Evaluate state of current equipment and create plans to improve maintainability and reliability
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in automotive or brake manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical controls.
- Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and automation systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
- Familiarity with brake manufacturing processes and equipment is a plus.
- Proficiency in reading technical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs] and work in a manufacturing setting (standing, bending, etc.).
- Certification in maintenance or reliability (e.g., CMRP) is an advantage.
