Summary
Knouse Foods Cooperative is seeking a reliable and skilled Forklift Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will safely and efficiently operate electric and gas-powered forklifts equipped with various lifting devices, ensuring the timely delivery and handling of supplies within the plant. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the flow of materials, ensuring accuracy, and adhering to food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts to move, lift, stack, and transport materials in assigned areas.
- Inspect forklift equipment daily using a standard checklist; report malfunctions promptly.
- Load and unload trucks, verify counts, and inspect for damage.
- Deliver supplies to production lines and monitor consumption, replenishing as necessary.
- Handle and store materials following warehouse organization protocols.
- Conduct inventories of direct supplies and complete associated paperwork accurately.
- Support production by dumping bins, cutting materials, and resealing barrels as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, and quality protocols.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is not required.
- Experience: Prior forklift operation experience preferred but not mandatory.
Skills:
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to read and complete paperwork accurately in English (essential for supplies-related tasks).
- Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Physical and Environmental Demands
- Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and push/pull over 100 pounds.
- Work involves sitting for long periods, occasional walking, and physical activities such as bending and twisting.
- Environment includes exposure to moving equipment, with noise levels typically quiet.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment as per safety protocols.
Certifications
- Must be certified by Knouse Foods as a forklift driver (training provided).
- Completion of all safety, Food Safety, GMP, and policy training is mandatory.
Work Schedule
- Availability to work all shifts, including time changes within shifts.
