Knouse Foods Cooperative is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our production team as a Machine Operator. The successful candidate will operate and monitor various cannery machines to ensure efficient production processes, while adhering to all food safety and quality standards. This role is essential in maintaining smooth operations within our production facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and adjust cannery machines, including aseptic packagers, palletizers, depalletizers, labelers, and fillers.
- Communicate with other machine operators to maintain continuous production flow.
- Start, stop, and observe machines to detect and report malfunctions.
- Ensure the use of correct supplies based on production schedules, inspecting for damage or tampering.
- Verify, input, and update product codes and maintain accurate records.
- Feed raw materials and supplies into machines, replenishing as needed.
- Inspect processed products for quality, removing damaged or improperly processed items.
- Perform minor repairs, adjustments, and cleaning on machinery.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma not required.
Experience: Prior machine operation experience preferred but not mandatory.
Skills:
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and complete simple paperwork.
- Basic math skills for counting, adding, and measuring.
- Problem-solving abilities to address machine malfunctions.
Physical and Environmental Demands
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, and use hands to operate equipment throughout the shift.
- Must frequently lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Requires close vision and depth perception to monitor machines.
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts in a moderately noisy environment.
Certifications
- Completion of all required safety, Food Safety, Food Quality, and GMP training.
Work Schedule
- Availability to work all assigned shifts, including potential schedule adjustments.
