Oils and greases moving parts of friction surfaces of cannery and mechanical equipment using specified lubricant. Knows and follows appropriate lubrication procedures for specified equipment. Ensures safe shutdown and safety lock-out of equipment prior to lubrication and repair. Oils or greases moving machinery parts. Possesses a basic mechanical aptitude. Reports machinery defects or malfunctions that could result in a safety, food quality or food safety issue. Performs minor adjustments and repairs, and routine maintenance. Works under limited supervision. Must be available to work all shifts, as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

1. Available for all shifts to perform preventative maintenance procedures.
2. Oils and greases moving parts of friction surfaces of cannery and other mechanical equipment. Possess a basic mechanical aptitude.
3. Fills container such as oil can, grease gun, or tank of lubrication truck with specified lubricant.
4. Squirts or pours oil on moving parts and friction surfaces, or into holes, oil cups, or reservoirs. Turns oil cup valves to regulate flow of oil to moving parts. Fills wells and sumps of lubricating systems with oil.
5. Forces grease into bearings with grease gun, greases friction surfaces, or packs grease cups by hand.
6. Wipes down the grease fittings after greasing and cleans up all excess grease.
7. Knows and follows appropriate lubrication procedures for specified equipment. Ensures safe shutdown and safety lock-out of equipment with tags and individual locks prior to lubrication, when required. Operates and runs machinery when required for lubrication.
8. Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor. Performs minor mechanical adjustments and repairs, and routine maintenance on machines in assigned area.
9. Cleans machines, sweep floors,and using forklift, transports grease barrels from stock to floor.
10. Completes required paperwork.
11. Cleans up all tools and parts after work has been completed.
12. Reports any Food Safety or Food Quality issues to the supervisor immediately.
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Occasionally picks up parts at vendor and transports to the plant.
ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, AND SAFETY GEAR:
1. Uses screwdriver, wrench and other small hand tools. Hand tools used in regular daily operations are provided by the employee.
2. Uses oil can and grease gun in lubrication.
3. Drives forklift to obtain grease.

Education/Knowledge/Experience:
High school degree not required
Position requires basic mechanical aptitude.
Language Skills:
Ability to read maintenance instructions and complete routine paperwork. Ability to communicate problems or issues one-on-one. English Required.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic math skills.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to make routine decisions concerning basic mechanical problems.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to maneuver around machinery and when performing lubrication and repairs.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds when required to move objects for repair. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts when lubricating and performing repairs on machinery. The employee is frequently exposed to lubricants and solvents when performing repairs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Other:
Ability to work with limited supervision; work all shifts; and work changing times within shift.
Certifications; Licenses, Registrations:
Certified by Knouse Foods as a forklift driver. Must watch safety video and pass written and driving test, on a regular basis.
Must complete all safety, Food Safety, Food Quality, GMP, and policy training as required.
