SUMMARY:
Assures every case of product is up to quality standards by supervising production processes, verifying codes and parameters, and managing set aside products. Employee may serve in this capacity while pursuing SQF Practitioner (Safe Quality Food) certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following

- Maintains staff and ensures results by selecting employees with the best fit of competencies, ensuring that job tasks are aligned with company strategic focus, monitoring performance, coaching, appraising job results, and praising/disciplining as necessary.
- Ensures production line is running properly by checking parameters on machines such as temperature, cooker speeds, and vacuums.
- Checks and assures proper codes by verifying codes on cans and tracking/identifying products.
- Manages substandard products by segregating, sorting and overseeing set aside products.
- Reviews production schedules by analyzing and determining qualifications for each product. Alerts the plant management when products containing allergens or sensitizing agents are being scheduled and produced.
- Verifies product consistency by sending samples to or setting up weekly cutting to display products each plant has run the prior week.
- Supplies Lab Technicians with materials by ordering reagents used in tests.
- Is responsible for maintaining all lab equipment
- Assures product quality by checking formulas and making appropriate adjustment as needed. Works directly with the Technical Department for any proposed changes or adjustments to formulas.
- Oversees recalled product processes by tracking and retrieving defective products.
- Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Contributes to the company effort by continually looking for ways to improve productivity and customer orientation within department by use of better technology, procedures, and use of resources.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge/skills by using the performance appraisal system to access personal strengths and development needs to accomplish the strategic goals of the organization.

Essential knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences:
- Requires a minimum of an associate’s degree in Food Science or its equivalent in experience.
- Two to three years work related experience.
- Knowledge of production processes and quality standards.
- Knowledge of office procedures, methods and computers including spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to communicate in English and understand information one-on-one and in small groups. Ability to communicate with staff members, management, and other departments.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work under pressure of deadlines.
- Ability to supervise others. Number of employees supervised are limited and in the same department. Employees are capable of handling assignments without specific instruction but refer deviations, problems and unfamiliar situations not covered by procedure to the supervisor for decision or help.
- Ability to work and climb stairs.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is conducted in both the office and plant environment. Requires visiting and walking through plants. May require some travel by commercial transportation to attend meetings. Must be able to stand, walk and climb.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS:Must possess valid motor vehicle operator’s license that is not under suspension or revocation and possess current automobile insurance coverage.
