Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive reliability roadmap for assigned equipment, addressing criticality, availability, and vulnerabilities
- Optimize preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies using failure history, inspections, and cost-benefit analyses
- Contribute to capital projects by ensuring reliability and maintenance criteria are integrated into new equipment installations
- Analyze predictive maintenance data and oversee corrective actions
- Provide advanced technical support to restore equipment to optimal working condition
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for complex equipment issues
- Establish and monitor reliability metrics (e.g., MTBF, MTTR)
- Train operators and mechanics on equipment issues to build team understanding and competence
- Identify and lead projects aimed at improving equipment reliability
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to enhance performance and reduce maintenance costs
- Support the development of equipment overhaul scopes of work (SOW)
- Collaborate with internal and third-party teams to assess capabilities and maintain quality standards
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned equipment, overseeing MOCs, barrier failure approvals, and criticality assessments
- Lead interdisciplinary reliability teams and mentor Maintenance Engineers
- Office-based role located in Minot or Tioga, operating on a 5/2 (9/80) schedule with occasional field visits as needed
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years in refining, petrochemical, oil and gas, or related heavy industries (e.g., energy, military maintenance, mining)
- Strong experience in reliability-focused organizations, with additional maintenance and operations expertise preferred
- Proficiency in industry standards and processes (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI, RCM, FMEA)
- Expertise in fixed equipment (piping, flanges, pressure vessels, heat exchangers) and rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, etc.)
- Working knowledge of electrical systems (low/medium voltage motors, VFDs) and control systems
- Advanced understanding of failure analysis, predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring technologies
- Familiarity with work management systems, preventive maintenance strategies, and equipment master data
- Strong grasp of EHS procedures (e.g., Permit to Work, Energy Isolation, PPE)
- Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to lead, coach, and train teams
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
- Effective prioritization and planning skills, managing multiple deadlines with flexibility to provide after-hours technical support
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering required
- Certification in reliability engineering processes or methods preferred
