Machinery Engineer (Rotating Equipment)
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Machinery Engineer specializing in rotating equipment to enhance the performance, reliability, and operation of critical assets—such as compressors, pumps, fans, and blowers—across multiple facilities. This role will involve equipment monitoring, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and providing field support during pre-commissioning and commissioning activities. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in industrial rotating machinery, familiarity with industry standards, and proficiency in analytical tools. Extensive travel between plant sites (up to 50%) is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to ensure optimal operation and reliability of rotating equipment (including both reciprocating and centrifugal compressors and pumps, as well as fans and blowers) across various plants.
- Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) to develop effective maintenance strategies.
- Deliver on-site support during pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up phases.
- Conduct thorough root cause analyses (RCA) of equipment failures to drive improvements and prevent recurrence.
- Participate in workshops and collaborative sessions to enhance maintenance planning and troubleshooting processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience working with rotating equipment in industries such as chemical, refinery, pulp & paper, steel, or power generation.
- Strong skills in machinery vibration data analysis.
- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), particularly SAP.
- Preferred certifications include ISO Category III Vibration Analyst and SKF Certified Machine Inspection.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., API, ASME, PIP).
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. now or in the future without sponsorship.
