Mental Health/Substance Abuse Social Worker
NYC Children's Center is seeking a substance abuse treatment provider at its Queens Hospital location, to provide direct, in-person treatment consultation, assessments and therapy to children during their hospital stay. Unit will provide co-occurring treatment to up to 12 youth.
The service should include, but are not exclusive to:
• Working closely with the mental health treatment team to establish a plan of care. Treatment team includes Psychiatrist,
Registered Nurse and Therapist (Psychologist/Social Worker).
• Connecting with the child and family on admission day to review the scope of treatment.
• Conduct clinical assessments using evidence-based tools (e.g. CRAFFT-N) and Core Assessment.
• Collaborating with the team to create initial and interim treatment planning goals targeting substance use.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy 20 hours per week, 3-5 days each week (including weekends). Conduct family therapy in conjunction with treatment team.
• Provide clinical and crisis intervention (e.g. YES!).
• Provide timely and accurate documentation of treatment interactions in the clinical record.
Qualifications
• Licensed/Masters preferred.
• CASAC-T; CASAC, or higher preferred.
• 2 years of experience working with youth/adolescents with co-occurring treatment needs (mental health)
• Excellent clinical and team communication skills.
• Experience working with families and providing group treatment.
• Experience with establishing discharge supports for children in NYS (including the NYC, Nassau and Westchester community).
