SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
As an Electro-Acoustic Engineer at Knowles, you will be a part of the customer facing team responsible for bridging the needs of customers to technical solutions through direct interface with design teams co-located in Itasca office. This position is instrumental to align the customer specifications by distilling internal and outward facing knowledge in the context of our products. This person will also support Product Management with new product development through design, manufacturing, and quality, and will work closely with the Sales & Marketing team on technology aligned with customer needs and business goals. This is a critical position and will thus have responsibility of supporting field representatives as well as presenting relevant data directly to customers.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties of the role include the following
- Interfacing with Customers, Sales team, and field applications to align product requirements and understand the system level limitations.
- Serve as the technical interface to customers by proposing products to customers’ design.
- Provide presentations and lead discussions regarding the technical aspects of products and technologies.
- Provide application supports to customers on implementation challenges and development solutions.
- Create simulation models (lumped element & FEA) for microphones and receivers.
- Perform electro-acoustic measurements on samples delivery to customers.
- Conduct failure analysis on returned samples from customers and provide solutions.
- Collaborates with cross functional teams and factories to drive the technical open items to closure.
- Author technical papers and application notes to support sale of microphone and receiver products
POSITION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will possess a high level of energy and drive to work independently and interactively with other engineers on challenging engineering problems, the ability to break down complex problems into simple investigations and experiments.
- Minimum BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or other technical major.
- Fundamental understanding of Acoustics & operation of acoustic transducers.
- Experience in system level design of either hearing aids, TWS earpiece, earphone or any acoustic commercial devices is mandatory.
- Understanding about analog amplifier, ADC converter, AFE, digital filter-bank, Class D amplifier and PWM is a must.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Focused attention to detail and timely follow-up ability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and within a team.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and terminology.
- Experience writing technical writing and white paper.
- Experience with modeling tools like ANSYS, or COMSOL.
- Familiarity and experience with 3D CAD and CAE (Pro/E preferred).
- Ideal candidate will be hands-on and feel comfortable in lab environment.
- Ability to use basic lab equipment, e.g. oscilloscope, soldering iron, audio analyzer.
- Possess knowledge about static magnetic interference and acoustic feedback is an advantage.
- Possess knowledge about transducers (MEMS microphone and balanced-armature receiver) is an advantage.
- Having experience in customer facing roles is an advantage
