Job Purpose/Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Sales Applications Engineer to play a critical role in driving revenue growth and technical support by providing technical expertise and solutions to customers, prospects, and sales teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to understand customer needs and translate them into solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Technical
- Solution Development: Design, develop, and deliver customized solutions to meet customer requirements, leveraging company products and services. Collaborate with multiple internal teams to ascertain what the customer requirements are vs what is possible and then diplomatically set expectations within both the team and if required also the customer.
- Product Demonstrations: Deliver compelling product demonstrations, work internally with teams to create proof-of-concepts to present to customers, and trials to customers and prospects.
- Technical Discovery: Conduct discovery sessions with customers to understand their technical requirements and pain points, then relay that information to internal teams.
- Solution Architecture: Develop and present solution architectures, including system design, integration, and deployment. Solutions should provide a reasonable and resource-efficient answer to the customers’ operational questions.
- Proof-of-Concept (POC) Development: Develop and execute POCs to validate solution feasibility.
Sales Support
- Sales Collaboration: Partner with sales teams to understand customer needs.
- Sales Enablement: Provide sales teams with technical training, product knowledge, and tools. Where appropriate also join sales team members at customer meetings to ensure all customer technical questions and concerns are captured.
- Proposal Development: Contribute to RFI/RFP/general proposal development, including writing technical sections and creating solution overviews.
Customer Facing
- Customer Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key customers, understanding their technical needs and providing solutions.
- Customer Presentations: Deliver presentations to customers, highlighting solution benefits, features, and value propositions. Work with different groups of experienced internal teams to build knowledge on customer outcomes and present targeted benefits to the customer.
- Trade Shows and Events: Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and other industry events.
Internal Collaboration
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and design to ensure software applications meet customer needs.
- Product Feedback: Provide feedback to product management and engineering teams on customer needs, market trends, and competitor activity.
- Knowledge Sharing: Share knowledge and best practices with sales and engineering teams.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
Experience
- 4 years of experience in sales engineering, applications engineering, or related field.
- Experience with cloud-based technologies, software applications, and/or hardware platforms.
Technical Skills
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, C , or equivalent.
- Experience with solution architecture, system design, and integration.
- Knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and standards.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Working conditions
- This position is a fully remote position, but candidates must be based on the East Coast
